Candie

9 yr Female Pit Bull

Candie was rescued from the shelter after suffering a suspected stroke.

Candie's foster has this to say about her:  This girl is my Happy Piggy!!! She grunts when she’s happy/excited. She loves food and even loves her medicine. She’s such an easy girl. She loves to trot back and forth in the yard with a big smile on her face like she’s just soaking up the sun . She is completely fixated on when he is out and tries to use him as a giant, living rawhide. (Thank goodness she’s missing half her teeth). She’s an older girl, so she doesn’t get around as easily as she used to, but she doesn’t know it. She absolutely LOVES to give kisses and will do anything (such as try to climb you) to kiss your face. It’s best if you just give in. I can’t say enough good things about this sweet girl.

Stormy

6 yr Female Cattle dog mix
Stormy was going to be euthanized because the family that adopted her said she tried to bite them. Most likely they were unfamiliar with cattle dog behavior and did not understand that she was not trying to bite.

She knows sit, paw, down and stay. Very treat motivated and very smart. She would be best with older children who can correct her when she gets excited and starts to mouth play.

Bennie

9 yr Male Pit Bull mix

Bennie arrived at county in mid August as a stray in bad shape and went unclaimed during his stray hold. Rescued from the e-list with just hours to spare, Bennie has been in foster to recover from severe malnourished and both tick borne and valley fever infections. His health and strength gets better and better every day but will need to remain on medication for both pain & valley fever for an unknown period of time. He takes his pills in the morning and at night mixed in wet food atop his dry food. He will also need occasional blood tests check valley fever infection levels.

Bennie's Foster says he is friendly, happy and easy going, Bennie is an absolutely easy joy to have around. Bennie walks with a cute lil old man shuffle, loves to nap and has a great happy go lucky attitude.  Nothing seems to phase him, he’s been perfect with our little dogs (no reaction to being snapped at), adjusted well to cats and is friendly and playful with kids. Bennie walks well on a leash and enjoys being out and about but also enjoys naps. Did I mention he loves naps? He has a good appetite, and eats politely. He does however like to hang out around the dinner table and if you don’t get his dinner going fast enough, he will occasionally give a loud bossy bark to let you know to hurry up.

He doesn’t do stairs, uses the doggie door, is respectful of the house and prefers to stay in a comfy area near his crate (likely due to our flooring). He’s very smart and knows basic commands.  He’s crate trained and typically puts himself in for naps.  If you tell him ‘bed’ he’ll go in his crate.

Benny is really a very nice boy, gentle, affectionate and loving. He’s immediately friendly to everyone he meets.  this about him:

Clarence

3 yr Male Sharpe mix

Clarence was so shut down at the shelter he wouldn’t even walk. I knew he wouldn’t make it out alive.

Clarence's Foster says:  It breaks my heart that Clarence doesn’t fit in with my family. This boy doesn’t have a mean bone in his body (but he does have a high prey drive). He needs snuggles with his human on a regular basis or he can get a bit nippy and vocal.  He is the best snuggler I have ever met. He doesn’t seem to know what to do with toys. He plays well with other dogs his size, but he is a bit rowdy, which can be too much for some dogs. He is timid when leashed and/or when in new situations.. It doesn’t even take him 48 hours to come out of his shell though. This boy is truly something special and I hope he finds an amazing family that can appreciate his loving heart.

 Behaviors:
Temperament: Plays rough/rowdy with other dogs. LOVES people
Energy: high energy if he hasn’t had enough snuggles.
Good with Children:
Good with dogs: yes: dogs his size and larger. NO SMALL DOGS
Good with cats: NO
Separation Anxiety: no
Resource guarding: NEVER. Eats perfectly with his roommates
Bark/noisy: yes, when he hasn’t had enough attention
Housebroken: perfectly potty trained
Shedder: moderate
Crate trained: yes
Leash etiquette: timid
Good in car: yes
Favorite toys: doesn’t really understand toys. Will sometimes chew on a ball or rawhide.
